What happens to My Body during pregnancy?
The change in hormones during pregnancy affects the body’s function that may cause pain or discomfort throughout pregnancy and after delivery.
A recent study stated, every pregnancy raises the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines by 700 to 1000 fold over baseline levels. Some of these cytokines can increase abdominal fat deposition and alter the digestion of nutrients, compromising nutrient absorption.
It is for these reasons that most mothers attempt to lose weight and keep this low postpartum. Excessive belly fat, swollen feet, and tiredness are all normal conditions, but if they last for more than 2 weeks then you may be suffering from PPD. Postpartum depression (PPD) or postpartum psychosis, happens to a handful of women after delivery.
Post natal therapy is not a form of slimming massage, and will not directly effect postpartum weight loss. It does, however, help with re-establishing hormonal balance in the body, which plays a significant role in postpartum weight management.
